10/13/04 Rescue units were called for a possible water rescue in the area of the Wachovia Bank at 244 Radcliffe St. It was reported that there were two kayaks washed up on Burlington Island in the Delaware River which separates Bucks Co., Pa. and Burlington Co., NJ in this area. Two marine units from Bristol Boro were deployed from the nearby Anchor Yacht Club for the search. The were assisted by two other marine units from the area. Rescue boats went to the area where the kayaks were beached on the island and began yelling towards the heavily wooded area to see if there was any response. After a time, the two kayakers, both women in their 50's did emerge from the woods and indicated that they had only been "sightseeing" on the island. Units involved: Photos by
