10/18/04 FDNY firefighters battled Bronx 4th Alarm Box 66-44-2799 in a 1 story taxpayer on the morning of Oct. 18th. The fire building was a 100x100 row of stores with store fronts along the Exposure 1 and Exposure 4 sides of the building (shaped like an "L"). Additionally, the fire building was attached on the Exposure 2 and Exposure 3 sides by a 5-story occupied multiple dwelling on each side. The fire began in a deli and spread to a liquor store, a wireless communications store and a Chinese take out restuarant, gutting all four businesses. The destroyed stores were closed and condemned in Sept. due to water damage from heavy rain, so the fire was considered suspicious and is under investigation by the FDNY Fire Marshals Ofc. Three tower ladders and numerous handlines were used to control the fire. Once the fire was under control, two engine/2 tower ladders and a batt. chief remained onscene to continue overhaul.
