Virginia Beach Fire-Rescue were dispatched to a reported kitchen fire with an elderly female burn victim who self-evacuated and an elderly female resident in an upstairs bedroom who could not self-evacuate. While the fire was in Engine 19's first-due area, they were coming from a distance and Engine 10/Fire Squad 10 were first in. Fire Squad 10 sent a firefighter to check on the female on the 2nd floor of the single family dwelling, while other F/F's checked on fire extension for the grease fire in the kitchen. Several rescue units were dispatched as well. 3rd Battalion Chief Mark Piland had command of the fire. Other units on-scene were Engine's 16, 19 and Ladder 9. It is unknown if the female with the minor burn was transmitted by ambulance or not.
